Bitcoin Gaming Soars Sky-High During the Quarantine

For over a month now, we have been stuck in our homes in quarantine in order to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus has already infected millions of people around the world and according to the WHO, we’re not out of the woods yet. Although it surely helps save lives and it’s the easiest form of help you can think of, there’s no denying the fact that quarantine is boring.

On the other hand, it’s a dreamy scenario for gamers. Sales in the video games industry have shot sky-high and apparently, Bitcoin gaming exploded as well. Bitcoin’s flagship game Bitcoin Blast has already surpassed a million downloads on the Play Store. Its creator, US-based company Bling, has reported a 50% increase in March in user statistics.

As it seems, the pandemic will definitely hurt the economy, but on the other hand, it might save all forms of gambling.

The Crisis is an Opportunity for Bitcoin

In the sea of negative news in terms of royalties out there, Bitcoin seems to be doing fine during the pandemic. Bling CEO Amy Wan has attributed the spike to people being stuck at home and bored. She’s right – there’s only so many things you can do when you’re in a quarantine unable to leave your home.

Bitcoin Blast has seen an increase in users and time spend inside the app. The majority come from the USA, with Brazil, Indonesia, and the Philippines trailing behind. Not surprisingly, the trend applies to mobile gaming. Sure, PC gaming has seen an increase for sure, but when it comes to Bitcoin games, mobile gaming is king.

It’s unfortunate that the pandemic is pummeling the world and the economy, but Bitcoin owners and companies have reasons to be happy about. Although a big price surge is highly unlikely for the world’s leading cryptocurrency, its popularity will go sky-high during the quarantine and that’s a good thing.

The pandemic is a big opportunity for Bitcoin to shine and show the world what it can do. We guarantee that once we defeat the coronavirus COVID-19, governments will reconsider their stance on cryptocurrencies. Thanks to the rise of crypto gaming during the quarantine, new games such as Bitcoin blast are also to be expected.

In short, Bitcoin is doing well in quarantine and we couldn’t be happier for it.

“A Blessing and a Curse”

While Bitcoin is thriving, however, Bling’s revenue has gone down. That’s to be expected due to the economic uncertainty right now. The pandemic has put a key to many businesses already, and there’s a good chance that many will suffer months from now.

According to Amy Wan, the company’s revenue has been going down during quarantine as customers are pulling ads. No one wants to spend money right now, and many smaller businesses will be shut down even before the quarantine ends.

The situation is a bit of a blessing and a curse for Bitcoin apps in general. But, right now, Bitcoin seems to be enjoying the quarantine and that’s great news for Bitcoin gaming in general.
